ArkSlick VFR-5345

A viscosified anionic friction reducer (FR)

It is developed for use in fresh water to high brine base fluids. The product is highly elastic and provides superior proppant suspension compared to conventional anionic polyacrylamides as well as guar slurries. ArkSlick VFR-5345 hydrates quickly and provides immediate and sustained viscosity and friction reduction performance.

ArkSlick VFR-series of products are evaluated under field relevant Reynolds numbers, velocities and differential pressures. ArkSlick VFR-5345 was evaluated in 1⁄2 inch diameter tubing at a volumetric flow rate of 57 L/min (15 gpm) and is shown to significantly reduce friction in a mild-salinity produced water base fluid.

Description

Highlights

  • Slurried viscoelastic friction reducer
  • Effective friction reduction in fresh water to high salinity brines
  • Good viscosifying properties in fresh water to low salinity brines
  • Shear thinning
  • Excellent proppant suspension
  • Efficient hydration
  • BTEX and aromatic free
  • Broad compatibility with fracturing additives
  • Typical loading: 0.5 – 10.0 L/m3 (gpt)

ArkSlick VFR-5345 is shown to generate viscosity in fresh water and low salinity brines. At equivalent viscosity, VFR-5345 demonstrates an improved ability to suspend proppant when compared to guar and a standard anionic polyacrylamide. As a high viscosity friction reducer (HVFR), VFR-5345 combines the proppant carrying capacity of cross-linked gels with the pressure reduction of traditional slick-water treatments into a single versatile product.
