Highlights
- High performance downhole lubricant
- Water dispersible
- Non-hazardous
- HLB number: 4-6
- Typical loading: 2-10 L/m3 (gpt)
It is used to reduce friction, torque and drag common in directional holes. To enhance its ability of lubricating the downhole equipment in water based fluids, this product has a non-foaming surfactant to make the product dispersible in water. This allows an even distribution of lubricant throughout the fluid, thereby increasing the ability of getting the lubricant to where it is needed.
Performance testing was carried out using field water as a base. The lubricity of the base fluid, along with varying loadings of ArkLube 1002 were measured using a ring and block lubricity tester. The instrumentation measures resistance of an internal fluid while in between two steel blocks and under pressure. The ArkLube 1002 performance was compared to a high cost competitor product. The coefficient of friction decreased by 80-90% using ArkLube 1002, a 50% improvement over the reduction seen using the more expensive competitor product.
